Due to Covid the stupid image rules here now, I’ll just post my Instagram post.
Edit: OK I’ll add a ‘thumbnail’.

Finally got the engine torn down as far as I dare go without either an engine stand, or making a huge mess rolling it around my garage floor.

How’s the parts situation? AS I recall, the Pontiac engines didn’t share much with the SBC.

I gotta get me a set of those bolt extractors. Not that I’ve needed them thus far, but now that I’ve seen someone else having success with them, the next bolt I try to unfasten will be rounded off. Pretty much guaranteed.

Camera angle or was #8 missing most of one of its lobes?

I was prepared to cut the head off, or weld a nut to it to try and crack it loose. I smacked these on with a hammer and put the socket and breaker bar on them and they came off with no drama. I was impressed.

Nothing at all iirc.
I’ve been told they can be built somewhat, but lots of parts are $$$$ or have to be custom made.

Lobes are good. It ran fine before I pulled it. Well, it started and ran for a little while at least...

I have a very similar looking set from Irwin. They’re very handy when you need them

I do own one of these, though. When the nut is rusted to the bolt or otherwise seized, these come in pretty handy. The day I went looking for one to buy , I got a lot of funny looks when I asked if they had a nut splitter. :)
